What Is Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that can occur when hair follicles or oil glands become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. Acne usually appears on your face, neck, chest, back and shoulders. Acne can be persistent and depending on its severity, can cause emotional distress and even scar the skin. Effective treatments are available at Broadway Skin Essentials. Starting treatment sooner lowers the risk of lasting physical and emotional damage, while letting you enjoy clearer, smoother, and more beautiful skin!

What Treatments Work For Acne?

Just like with any other acne treatment medication or procedure, getting results from facial treatments may take time. Expect great results, by commiting to a series of acne treatments.

Typically, facials are scheduled every week to every other week, and to maintain the benefits of your facials, be consistent with your treatments at the office as well as your skin care routine at home.

During a facial treatment, our Medical Aestheticians begin by thoroughly cleansing the skin, microdermabrasion may be incorporated into the treatment, and opening blocked pores with manual removal of black heads (comedones). This will give you an immediate improvement in the look and feel of your skin.

Although the extraction of the comedones will improve existing non-inflammatory breakouts, facials can’t stop them from forming in the first place. But with regularly scheduled facials, you should notice an improvement of the severity of comedonal acne.

At your free skin consultation, you and your Medical Aesthetician can decide on a daily at home skin care regimen to balance your skin to reduce future breakouts. Your Medical Aestheticians will recommend professional products for at-home use, such as Zein Obagi and SkinMedica.
